Warning about a tsunami of blindness across Wales<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\nThe Welsh Government has published the latest ophthalmology waiting time data<\/a>, showing that 51% of patients are still not seen in their target time.<\/p>\n

Last week, Gwyn Williams, president of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in Wales, told the BBC<\/a> that ophthalmology struggled to meet needs before Covid.<\/p>\n

However, he said it had \u201cno hope without innovative ideas and substantial investment in services infrastructure and new ways of working\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Williams added that Wales faced the risk of a \u201ctsunami of blindness<\/strong> across the whole country unless we are able to reorganise\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
