A husband and wife have both had the same sight-saving surgeries at the same clinic – just weeks apart from each other.<\/h3>\n

Janet and Ray Spinks<\/strong> were told by their optometrist that they had both developed cataracts and needed surgery at the same time. \"\"<\/p>\n

Both were referred to Newmedica\u2019s ophthalmology clinic in Hampshire, to have their right eyes operated on. Ray returned to the clinic, based in the Solent Business Park in Whiteley, seven weeks later to have his left eye done.<\/p>\n

Aby Jacob, the consultant who carried out Ray\u2019s surgery, said: \u2018It\u2019s not often you get a married couple attend the clinic in such short succession for the same surgery, but we\u2019re pleased we could help them both by removing the cataracts and improving their vision. Mr and Mrs Spinks were lovely patients and I\u2019m so glad that they\u2019re both recovering well after surgery.<\/p>\n

Ray, 84, said: \u2018The clinic had a nice, family atmosphere, and all the staff were professional and friendly which made me feel at ease. I would absolutely urge anyone who was nervous about having the surgery to have it done.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s amazing what they can do, as you don\u2019t feel anything at all. If you leave it, your sight will deteriorate even more, so it\u2019s worth getting checked as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

\u2018My eyes had gradually got worse over time, and the improvement to both after my surgery has been brilliant. I have a workshop at the bottom of the garden and love getting creative, and my newly improved sight will help me to continue to do so.\u2019<\/p>\n

Janet, 79, added: \u2018I love reading and doing word puzzles, and my sight now compared to before the surgery has been amazing, so I\u2019m looking forward to enjoying these activities with much clearer vision.\u2019<\/p>\n
