{"id":54670,"date":"2021-02-05T12:13:27","date_gmt":"2021-02-05T12:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newangliagrowthhub.co.uk\/?p=54670"},"modified":"2021-07-13T13:36:43","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T12:36:43","slug":"bid-submitted-for-freeport-east-which-could-generate-thousands-of-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bedotdev.com\/newanglia\/bid-submitted-for-freeport-east-which-could-generate-thousands-of-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"Bid Submitted For Freeport East Which Could Generate Thousands Of Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A bid has been submitted to create a freeport for the East of England.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b2f9ae7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-theme-post-content\" data-id=\"b2f9ae7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"theme-post-content.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p>The Freeport East group, made up from businesses and local authorities including New Anglia LEP, is calling on the Government to assign the status to Felixstowe and Harwich.<\/p>\n<p>Freeport status means areas will benefit from tax reliefs and simplified customs procedures in order to encourage economic activity.<\/p>\n<p>If freeport status is granted to the area, the bid estimates 13,000 new jobs and 150 apprenticeships could be created, while Freeport East would attract \u00a3500m of investment over the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>A decision on the bids is expected in the Spring.<\/p>\n<p>C-J Green, Chair of New Anglia LEP, spoke in support of the bid.
