{"id":55310,"date":"2021-07-09T14:33:27","date_gmt":"2021-07-09T14:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newangliagrowthhub.co.uk\/?p=55307"},"modified":"2021-07-13T13:12:06","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T12:12:06","slug":"people-and-skills-at-the-epicentre-of-our-campaigning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bedotdev.com\/newanglia\/people-and-skills-at-the-epicentre-of-our-campaigning\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cPeople and skills: at the epicentre of our campaigning\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reflecting the growing importance of the \u2018human element\u2019 in securing the county\u2019s long-term sustainable prosperity, Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has launched its new People &amp; Skills Group (PSG).<\/p>\n<p>Chaired by Richard Brame, managing director of Ipswich-based insurance giant Willis Towers Watson, the PSG is open to Suffolk Chamber members by invitation and currently includes representatives from a wide range of interested businesses, public sector organisations, all of the county\u2019s FE colleges and the University of Suffolk.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"intro\">The Group has a remit to both develop and support the delivery of the Chamber\u2019s \u2018People\u2019 policy objectives contained in its manifesto and examine best practice from leading practitioners within and outside Suffolk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"intro\">The PSG will consider four productivity-related themes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"odd\"><span class=\"intro\">Ensuring a smoother transition between the worlds of education and work for new employees<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"even\"><span class=\"intro\">Improving the skills and development of established employees<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"odd\"><span class=\"intro\">Boosting the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all employees and business owners\/management teams<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"even\"><span class=\"intro\">Securing the maximum benefit to Suffolk of the skills uplift for major infrastructure projects in the county<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"intro\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"intro\">The first meeting of the PSG was held last month and included interesting presentations from Jane Gratton, head of skills at the British Chambers of Commerce on the Workplace Training &amp; Development Commission\u2019s report and Suffolk County Council\u2019s Charlotte Wright about the Supply Chain Skills Developm<\/span>ent Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Brame said: \u201cThe PSG is certainly a talking shop but with a purpose!
